Patna: If everything goes according to plan, liver transplant will soon be started at Jaiprabha Medanta Superspecialty Hospital in the city. Noted cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Naresh Trehan, who is also the chairman and managing director of Medanta, made this announcement here. He said the 300-bed hospital would soon be upgraded into a 700-bed facility.

Dr Trehan said along with heart surgeries, kidney transplant and diabetes treatment, the hospital would also start liver transplant soon. “People of the state as well as adjoining Nepal can get the best treatment at the hospital,” he said, adding the focus behind the establishment of the hospital here was to provide high-end health facilities to all.

“While coming back from America, I had thought that I will make Bihar and other states which come under the category of BIMARU, self-sufficient in healthcare. We have Medanta in Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi and Indore and now we are coming up with our branch in Noida too,” he said, adding many reputed doctors from the UK and the USA are now coming back to India to render their service.

For fit and healthy life, Dr Trehan advised people to go for regular check-up. He also advised people to do exercise and breathing activities, which neutralise the stress. He said youths who had recovered from Covid should avoid heavy exercises in gym like weightlifting or running to avoid heart inflammation.
