Marvel’s Elizabeth Olsen Expects She’ll Return to the MCU in Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Elizabeth Olsen expects to return to the MCU in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the upcoming WandaVision spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn.

Olsen previously hinted that she could return to the MCU, even though her character suffered a violent exit in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Madness. At the time, the actress didn’t clarify when she would be back, but she has now suggested that it might be sooner than we think.

The MCU star was asked by Deadline if Wanda Maximoff (aka the Scarlet Witch) would be returning to Westview for Agatha: Coven of Chaos. “I don’t know ever know how to answer these questions, except I don’t…,” she said, pausing for a beat before adding, “I think I’ll be back.”

The last time we saw the Scarlet Witch, she destroyed the Darkhold and brought down Wundagore Mountain on top of her in a redemptive death. But there was a hint of red misty energy under the rocks, leaving the slightest of possibilities that Earth-616’s Wanda is not really dead.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos will cap off the MCU’s 2023 line-up, and is probably the closest thing we’ll ever see to WandaVision Season 2. The series stars Aubrey Plaza and Joe Locke, with the latter rumored to be playing an older version of Wanda’s magically inclined son, Wiccan.

It was also previously reported that Olsen could potentially reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff in Vision Quest, another WandaVision spin-off. This series is set to feature the return of Paul Bettany’s Vision, with some at Marvel reportedly calling it the “White Vision project.”

WandaVision provided fertile creative ground for the MCU. As the first of the Disney+ MCU shows, it gave rise to popular villain Agatha Harkness, and it tied directly into Doctor Strange 2. That movie left fans with a number of major questions, some of which are still to be answered.
