Mario Doesn’t Have a Future in Mobile, Says Miyamoto

As everyone’s favourite Italian plumber joins a new world in live-action cinema with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it seems like fans of the character won’t be seeing him on the mobile platform.

In a recent interview with Variety, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo has no plans to continue the franchise’s run on mobile devices. “Mobile apps will not be the primary path of future Mario games,” he said.

In its short stint on smartphones, Nintendo and Miyamoto has released games like Super Mario Run, Dr. Mario World, and Mario Kart Tour. However, the titles failed to live up to the commercial success of the series’ other games that players can experience on Nintendo consoles.

In a partnership with the upcoming animated film, the luxury condiment brand has released The Super Mario Bros. Movie Collectible Pack. The pack features three special 6 oz. bottles filled with the brand’s iconic hot sauce range.

The three bottles are headlined by Mario, Toad, and Princess Peach, respectively. While Toad represents the Truff Original Hot Sauce, Mario is shown on the company’s Hotter Hot Sauce. Peach is showcased on the Truff White Truffle Hot Sauce.

The exclusive collection of hot sauces features bottles with custom labels, colourful geometric caps and an exclusive Mushroom Kingdom VIP gift box. The lineup is currently available to purchase for $69.99.
