Need for Speed is a franchise that has become synonymous with the racing game genre. This highly popular franchise has pumped some amazing titles through out the years. The last Need for Speed title that we received was Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Since then the we haven’t heard anything about a new title or game being in the works for this franchise, until now. A new leak has surfaced which provides us certain details for an upcoming Need for Speed game.
The leak comes from a popular subreddit, r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, and has been posted by u/TopRamanNoodl3s. The first thing that he has come out to say is that people should take this leak with a grain of salt as it is secondary information. He states that the source of this information is a buddy of his, that has been employed by EA. His buddy has provided him details for a Need for Speed 2022 title. The leak provides certain details about the effects, features and character design that will be used for the game.
The first thing he talks about is cartoon/comic book effects that will be added to the next Need for Speed title. These cartoon effects will come into action when the player bangs his car into a lamppost or pole and breaks it down. At that very moment, a comic book style ‘BANG’ will appear on the screen. He also talks about tire spins and how they will not generate heaps of smoke, instead lines will follow a circular motion that will mimic the direction of the rear tires.
Moreover, he talks about the return of Abandoned Car/Bait Crate Cop chases, where the players will be able to spot cars that can be stolen on their map. Once the player has stolen the car, he will enter a high speed chase with a massive bunch of cop cars and S.W.A.T. vans. He also talks about crash cams that will be added to the game, similar to what we saw in the Most Wanted series.
He also talks about a new taunt mechanic, where the player will able to create weird noises through their car and taunt the people or players around them. Finally, he concludes by talking about the character design inspiration that will be used for the game. He states that the art style for the characters has been inspired by a previous title, Need for Speed: No Limits. It will be fantastic to see an announcement for a NFS title, but we do not know for sure when it will come, or if there will even be an announcement in 2022.
