The shocking defeat of Gojo Satoru at the hands of Toji Fushigoro left Jujutsu Kaisen fans stunned. Right before shooting Riko Amanai, we see Toji seemingly stabbing Gojo to death. Even if it’s not confirmed if Gojo is actually dead, it was incredible to see Toji take down the man deemed the strongest jujutsu sorcerer.

It’s important to note that Toji’s aim was not specifically to defeat Gojo but rather to fulfill his contract by assassinating Riko, with Gojo merely being an obstacle in the way. Even so, fans should know how Toji Fushigoro accomplished this monumental feat against Gojo.

Toji’s Strategy

Toji Fushigoro, also known as ‘The Sorcerer Killer,’ realized assassinating Riko Amanai under Satoru Gojo’s protection would not be straightforward. Gojo was tremendously powerful and vigilant, thanks to his Six Eyes. A direct attack on Riko would likely lead to Toji’s demise. So, Toji devised a shrewd plan. He would use part of the money meant for the assassination to instead place a substantial bounty on Riko’s head.

This would attract many other assassins and bounty hunters trying to claim the fortune, wearing Gojo down as he worked tirelessly to fend them off for weeks. Toji counted on Gojo eventually reaching his limits after so much vigilance. It was then that Toji would strike suddenly, capitalizing on Gojo’s momentary vulnerability. The deadline he set would also psychologically cause Gojo to let his guard down afterward, believing the danger had passed.

The Confrontation

After spending time in Okinawa, Gojo, Misato, Riko, and Geto returned to Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School for the merging process with Master Tengen. However, someone unexpectedly infiltrates and passes the school’s powerful barrier. This is none other than the cunning Toji. The fight begins with Toji launching a quick and unexpected attack, and Gojo is forced to defend while trying to protect Riko.

Since Toji’s Heavenly Restriction made it hard for Gojo to sense him, Gojo tried to clear the area to see better. But Toji used a diversion tactic, releasing cursed insects to block Gojo’s view.

Toji then sneaks up on Gojo and lands a devastating blow. The reason Toji was able to land this blow is because of a destructive weapon – the Inverted Spear of Heaven, which negates the effects of curse techniques. This guaranteed an absolute win against Gojo as Toji was able to pass through his Limitless ability. He follows up with several more stabbing attacks, leaving Gojo severely injured and bleeding on the ground.

The fight is interrupted, and Toji goes on to achieve his objective of assassinating Riko. The Inverted Spear of Heaven is a small dagger-like weapon that serves an unconventional purpose within the art of jujutsu. Rather than dealing with damage, its primary function is to counter and neutralize cursed energy techniques. It can dispel the effects of techniques like domain expansions, which are otherwise almost impossible to escape from.

While the weapon itself possesses these useful properties, its effectiveness depends greatly on the skill of its user. The spear must be handled with accuracy and finesse in order to identify and intercept cursed energy at precisely the right moments.
