Jio Phone 5G expected to be the cheapest 5G phone in India: Here’s how much it could cost | Digit

Reliance at its AGM 2022 announced its partnership with Google for ultra-affordable 5G phones. In line with that, the forthcoming Jio Phone 5G could come between ₹8000 and ₹12000 in India. A fresh report from Counterpoint Research tells us that the Jio Phone 5G at a sub-12K price range could be the cheapest of its kind in the market.

Here’s what we know so far about the phone.

Reliance Jio Phone 5G Specs and Features (Expected)

Jio Phone 5G could come with a 6.5-inch HD+ display on the front. The selfie camera could have an 8MP sensor. The rear camera setup, meanwhile, could comprise a 13MP primary shooter and a 2MP companion.

Under the hood, the Jio 5G phone could house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. There could be microSD card support too.

The partnership with Google on the software side could extend to this phone also. That means you could get Pragati OS with stripped-down Google Apps and Jio app suite.

Last but not least, the battery powering all this could be a 5000mAh cell capable of charging up at 18W speed.

Reliance Jio Phone 5G Price and Availability (Expected)

In its report, Counterpoint states, “at some point in 2024, Jio will also be compelled to launch an affordable 5G mmWave + sub-6GHz smartphone as the cost deltas between the two have narrowed significantly from the overall BoM (bill of materials) fitting perspective.”

And to reiterate, the Jio Phone 5G could come under the ₹12,000 bracket, if rumors are to be believed.

That’s all we know for now.
