Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the lost 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the were Panasonic Corp (TYO:), which rose 9.76% or 111.50 points to trade at 1,254.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nichirei Corp. (TYO:) added 8.90% or 209.00 points to end at 2,556.00 and Subaru Corp (TYO:) was up 7.04% or 165.50 points to 2,517.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kao Corp. (TYO:), which fell 8.71% or 488.00 points to trade at 5,114.00 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:) declined 8.49% or 104.00 points to end at 1,121.00 and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 5.26% or 26.00 points to 468.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2088 to 1399 and 295 ended unchanged.

Shares in CyberAgent Inc (TYO:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.49% or 104.00 to 1,121.00. Shares in Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.26% or 26.00 to 468.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.97% to 22.04 a new 1-month low.

Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.81% or 0.72 to $89.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.58% or 0.55 to hit $95.20 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 4.35 to trade at $1,654.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.60% to 147.40, while EUR/JPY fell 0.55% to 145.57.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 111.32.
