On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the mYoga app in collaboration with World Health Organisation (WHO).
This app comes preloaded with many yoga training videos that are based on common yoga protocol and in multiple languages.
Terming this as a great example of fusion of modern technology and ancient science, the Prime Minister expressed that the mYoga app will help in spreading yoga the world over and will contribute to the efforts of ‘One World One Health’.
Both Android and iOS users can download the app from their respective app stores.
The mYoga app has been developed by WHO in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and the Ministry of Ayush.
“This is an app for the general public and for yoga teachers to use in their daily life and teaching. It includes WHO approved yoga teaching and practice sessions of different durations developed through extensive international expert consultation processes,” says the description of the app on Google Play Store.
At the time of filing this report, the mYoga app has over 100 installs and is rated 4.5 on Google Play Store. The app last received an update on June 17 and the size of the apps listed at 42MB.
The app description also claims that mYoga does not collect any data from users at all and is recommended for use as a “daily yoga companion for persons aged 12-65 years.”
The theme for International Yoga Day 2021 is ‘Yoga For Wellness’ which, as elaborated by PM Modi, focuses on “practising Yoga for physical and mental wellbeing.”
