Intel: Chinese Customs Catch Someone Attempting To Smuggle Hundreds of CPUs

Over the past few months, China has given birth to several crazy stories about individuals attempting to smuggle tech hardware. The constricted supply of semiconductors and processors in China post the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a surge in such cases of trafficking.

Few months ago, we reported about a “pregnant” lady smuggling 202 Intel Alder Lake CPU processors and 9 iPhones by hiding her contraband inside her fake stomach. The smuggle came to light, when customs officials found her pregnant appearance suspicious.

In a recently reported story, the smuggled items in question are 13th Gen Intel Raptor Lake processors. The attempted trafficking was caught by customs officials at the Gongbei Port of Zhuhai, Guangdong.

Detained individual reportedly tried to smuggle Intel CPUs worth around $46,000

According to mydrivers.com (via Wccftech), officials detained an individual, whose appearance seemed suspicious due to his loose clothing and bloated look.

Upon further inspection, the customs officials found CPUs taped and packaged around his waist, abdomen, and inner part of his thighs. After counting, the officials reported 239 CPUs as the contraband carried by the detained man.

According to the images released by the authorities, the processors in question are Intel 13th Gen Core i5-13400F CPUs, as part of the Raptor Lake series. Following calculations done by Wccftech, the total value of the contraband is around $46,000.
