Instagram starts rolling out support for posting photos from your desktop: Here’s how to do it – Times of India

Last month, it was reported that photo-sharing app Instagram was working on adding support for posting content on its platform not just via app but also desktop.
Now, the functionality seems to be live as a lot of users have spotted support for the same.
Facebook-owned app has confirmed that it has made live the support for posting on Instagram via desktop. “We know that many people access Instagram from their computer,” an Instagram spokesperson said. “To improve that experience, we’re now testing the ability to create a Feed post on Instagram with their desktop browser.”
The Times of India-Gadgets now could also spot the feature being live on Safari browser on Mac but not on Chrome browser running on Windows PC. However, it is only a matter of time when the same goes live on Windows too.
The process of posting from a PC seems similar to as it is from posting your Instagram app.
Those who will have the support for posting from their PC should be able to spot a ‘+’ icon on the top right corner of the screen.
Here is how you can post on Instagram from your PC:
  • Click on ‘+’ icon
  • Select from computer
  • Choose size options — Original, Square (1:1), Portrait (4:5), Landscape (16:9)
  • Click on Next
  • Select filter and edit brightness, contrast etc
  • Write a caption, add location, etc
  • Share

Recently, Instagram head Adam Mosseri in a blog post answered some of the most widely asked questions about the platform, its algorithm and how it ranks posts in Feed. Mosseri says that the main “misconception” about the Instagram algorithm, is that there is one single algorithm making people see some posts and hiding some. However, in reality, it is actually “a variety of algorithms, classifiers, and processes, each with its own purpose.”
