Singer, lyricist and reality star Rupali Jagga is relieved to be back on stage after months of Covid-induced lockdown.

“Life was on a standstill though I continued doing music from home. But I missed being on stage performing for live audience. Though the international concerts are still on hold and one of them in US recently got cancelled but back home we were allowed to perform in a few cities with less number of active cases. Also, for now we are permitted to perform for an audience of 50 to 100 people only but still at least I was back on stage performing,” says the Cakewalk singer. Dubbed as ‘Swar Kokila of Saharanpur,’ Rupali has been learning music since the age of five. “Born for music, I strongly feel singing reality shows are the best platform for singers who come to join the industry without a film background. Like when I was one of the finalists of the show Sa Rre Ga Ma Pa and also went on to win other shows things changed for me overnight. Offers and collaborations came my way and I became part of the industry in no time,” she says. Rupali feels as films are on hold and only a few are on the floor she can use the time to work on her own music. “As things are slowly bouncing back we artistes have to wait a little longer to get back to studios like before,” she adds.

With albums like Majboor, Aasra, Awara Sham Hai, Call Kari, Rupali is currently focusing on more independent songs. “Independent music is the space to be in, though it is becoming competitive by the day. In August I will be releasing two songs and also feature in the videos. Recently my team won TV reality Indian Pro Music League and it was such a fun stint for us as well as for the audience who have locked in their home for long now.”
