huawei: Huawei could launch HarmonyOS for global customers next year: Report – Times of India

Chinese technology company Huawei has seen its share of trouble globally but in the native market, the company is still a big player. The company’s own HarmonyOS, which has been available only in China as the HongMengOS, could come to more global markets from next year, claims a report by HuaweiCentral, based upon a newspaper interview of Derek Yu, President of Huawei’s CB for Eastern and Central Europe, Northern Canada and Turkey. The interview was done by Romanian daily newspaper ‘Adevarul’.
In the interview, Yu reportedly stated the possibility of the HarmonyOS being launched for devices outside China in 2022. He also emphasised the fact that even after the current version of the HarmonyOS being focussed primarily on users in China, the OS has been installed by over 100 million users.
Huawei’s HarmonyOS is currently spread out across a range of devices, with over 140 smartphones, tablets, smart screen devices and more running it. The OS has seen a number of new versions with the latest being HarmonyOS 3.0 and its first preview beta is set for release in first quarter of 2021. Since the Google ecosystem does not support the Huawei devices outside China, the HarmonyOS could make a stronger case for buying a Huawei device outside its native country.
