Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Features Many PS5-Exclusive Improvements

Horizon Forbidden West is a visually impressive game, but splitting the game between the PS4 and PS5 generation limited developer Guerrilla Games on a technical level. In a new interview on the PlayStation Blog, game director Mathijs de Jonge explained how the PS5-exclusive DLC Burning Shores will take full advantage of the PS5’s advanced hardware.

In the piece, de Jonge says that the DLC’s 60fps frame rate and reduced load times (made possible by the PS5’s SSD) are the two improvements he’s most excited about. He noted that Burning Shores’ destroyed Los Angeles environment is much more visually detailed than anything in the base game. He also said there’s one particularly ornate battle scene that never would have been possible on the PS4.

De Jonge also revealed that his favorite PS5 game is God of War Ragnarök, though he said that Elden Ring was also very impressive. In other PS5 news, a report recently indicated that a PS5 Pro may be in development, targeting a release window of late 2024.
