Hideo Kojima And PlayStation Have Made A Documentary About Hideo Kojima

One of the biggest names in game development, Hideo Kojima, is the focus of a new documentary that has released today and chronicles the formation of his independent studio, Kojima Productions.

Directed by Glen Milner (Handmade in Hull), the documentary film describes itself as providing “a rare insight into Hideo Kojima’s creative process ” during the launch of his new studio and features interviews with several of the developers collaboraters, including Guillermo del Toro, Nicholas Winding Refn, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Woodkid, Chvrches and more. The documentary is a joint production between Kojima Productions, Filmworks, and PlayStation Studios.

Kojima officially left Konami in December 2015, and shortly afterwards, he announced the formation of a new version of Kojima Productions. Several months later at Sony’s E3 2016 PlayStation press conference, Kojima would appear on stage to reveal Death Stranding, a very weird game about life, death, and avoiding the rain in a post-apocalyptic world.

Death Stranding was just one of several ventures that Kojima would embark upon in his post-Konami career, as since then, he has launched a podcast series, started work on a Death Stranding movie, and he’s developing Death Stranding 2.

On top of all that, Kojima is also working on a new Xbox game and he recently found time to appear at Apple’s WWDC 2023 to announce that Death Stranding’s Director’s Cut is coming to Mac.
