Halo Chief Bonnie Ross Announces Her Decision To Leave 343 Industries and Xbox

Halo lead Bonnie Ross has announced her decision to leave 343 Industries and Xbox, after founding the former nearly 15 years ago.

In a Twitter post, Ross shared that she is resigning from the company to attend a family medical issue. She further stated that she had planned to leave following the release of the winter update for Halo Infinite, which is scheduled to arrive on November 8, 2022. However, it seems like her plans have changed.

In her post, Ross acknowledged her fellow colleagues at Xbox and 343 Industries, who have been part of her journey, which includes the development of several Halo-related projects such as Halo Infinite, the Halo TV series on Paramount+ and The Master Chief Collection. Furthermore, she also thanked the massive Halo community for its support over the years as well.

With Ross leaving her role as the head of 343 Industries, the position has been taken over by the studio’s head of production, Pierre Hintze, who spearheaded the fixing of Halo: The Master Chief Collection following its release in 2014.

Prior to her departure, Ross has been part of the world of Microsoft for nearly three decades, with most of her experience revolving around Xbox and Xbox Game Studios. Following Microsoft’s split with Bungie in 2007, Ross took charge of the Halo franchise after being handed the reins of the then newly founded 343 Industries.

Since then, she has overseen the development of several projects like Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Infinite, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and many more. Her work in the video game industry has been the stuff of legends, and she was recognized by her peers with an induction into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame back in 2019.
