The Gujarat Rajya Shala Sanchalak Mahamandal, an association of school managements and trustees of grant-in-aid schools in the state, has made a representation to the state government to take a similar decision for the Teachers Aptitude Test (TAT) and Head Teachers Aptitude Test (HTAT).
In an official circular released earlier this week, CBSE said a CTET certificate would now be valid for the holder’s lifetime. Earlier, the certificate was valid for 7 years.
TAT and HTAT examinations are conducted by the state examination board every year. “The validity of the exam certificates is five years in Gujarat. We want this to be extended to a lifetime on the lines of the CBSE decision,” said a member of the Gujarat Rajya Shala Sanchalak Mahamandal.
The examinations are mandatory for all who wish to apply for teaching positions and the principal’s position at government and grant-in-aid schools.
