Google India has announced the launch of Startup School to guide 10,000 startups in tier-II & III cities in the country. The Startup School is a series of guided online trainings designed to equip early-stage startup founders with the tools, products, and knowledge that growing companies need. Almost 90% of all startups fail within the first five years of their journey — mostly for the same key reasons: unmanaged cash burn, flawed demand assessment, ineffective feedback loops or lack of leadership. The Google for Startups initiative is designed to help founders get a better understanding of the space and learn from some of the best in this space.
What will the course offer
The 9-week course will be delivered virtually, will feature fireside chats between Google leaders and collaborators from across the startup ecosystem spanning fintech, D2C, B2B and B2C e-commerce, language, social media & networking, job search and many more. Aimed at early stage founders with a minimum viable product, the program provides the flexibility of a virtual curriculum and allows attendees to pick and choose the modules they did like to tune in for.
The curriculum will feature instructional modules on subjects like shaping an effective product strategy, product user value, roadmapping & PRD development, building apps for users in markets like India and driving user acquisition. There will also be opportunities for founders to gain orthogonal insights from discussions around what makes an effective founder, formalizing hiring and more.
Metros no longer the startup hub of India
With close to 70,000 startups, India is the third largest birthing ground for startups in the world. Startups in the country are no longer restricted to Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai or Hyderabad. There are now fast-growing startups headquartered in centers such as Jaipur, Indore, Gorakhpur and more. In fact, these may account for nearly 50% of all recognised startups in India today.
