God of War Ragnarok smashes past 11 million global sales

Officially fastest-selling first-party PlayStation Studios game

In a piece of news that was perhaps more than inevitable, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that God of War Ragnarok has surpassed 11 million global sales since its initial launch just 12 weeks ago.

We’re incredibly humbled that God of War Ragnarok has officially sold through 11 million copies!” stated developer Sony Santa Monica proudly on Twitter. “None of this would be possible without the support of our fans, so thank you for coming on this journey with us!”

PlayStation itself congratulated its subsidiary studio on Twitter. Having smashed through these numbers in just three months, Ragnarok is now officially the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation Studios title to date.

Easily one of 2022’s most anticipated releases, God of War Ragnarok is the follow-up to the dramatic and ambitious 2017 God of War “reboot”. The sequel follows Kratos and his maturing son Atreus as the duo faces down the coming of Ragnarok — The cataclysmic event of Norse lore that is fated to bring death and destruction to the gods. Upon release, the sequel was praised by critics and fans for its suitably operatic storytelling, fantastic visuals, and compelling world of mythological Gods & Monsters.

God of War Ragnarok is available now on PlayStation platforms.
