Genshin Impact’s Kamisato Ayato: A Breakdown of New Leaks

Greetings Travellers. there have been a ton of new leaks for Genshin Impact’s upcoming character Ayato. Since, there is a lot to unpack so first, here’s a meme that perfectly describes how we are feeling after exactly one day after v2.5’s launch and in between v2.6 potential leaks:

If you’re like me, you’ve probably been waiting impatiently for Kamisato Ayato, the elusive older brother of Ayaka (props to this 5-second cameo that got me screaming). However, Hoyoverse has recently revealed a first look at Ayato, just before the v2.5 Livestream back on February 4th.

To be honest, little has been revealed about Ayato thus far, so players are devouring any info they can from the dubious leaks coming in from various sources. Given the scarcity of credible Ayato information at the moment, please take every rumor or leak with a grain of salt.

In earlier leaks, some datamined information posted by u/KisakiS2IzYWtp suggests Ayato will be a Hydro sword user, which would make him only the second Hydro character that wields a sword (after Xingqiu) and a great complement to his sister Ayaka’s Cryo abilities. Recently, a video has been dropped by Twitter user Waffel that gives us a first look at Ayato in-beta, his combat animations and Kit, so it is confirmed that Ayato is a Hydro Sword user.

According to this video, Ayato’s Skill is similar to that of Shenhe’s Burst (her Ult) to summon a shade form of Ayato and enables him to deal massive Hydro damage plus Attack Speed bonus in addition to normal attacks. The shade form is rumored to also deal AOE damage to enemies and taunts them in a manner similar to Arataki Itto’s Ushi Skill.

Ayato’s Burst (or Ult) presumably changes damage from normal attacks, heavy attacks and falling attacks to Hydro elemental damage, and gives a bonus to the active character’s Attack Speed and Range. Visually, this Burst is rumored to create a rain effect similar to Ganyu’s Burst and deals massive Hydro Damage within a certain AOE range.

Another video reveals a closer look at Ayato’s Kit, Materials and animations, especially his Idle Animations and what could be art of his Signature 5* Sword that is yet to release or is just a placeholder.

My main question is: why does the man carry a takeaway cup of Boba Tea like that?

Based on the information gathered here, Ayato has the potential to be a great DPS Carry with the right supports like Fischl, Rosaria and Thoma, and a massively practical Sub-DPS to a Cryo or Electro main DPS unit like Hu Tao, Ayaka, Raiden Shogun, Yae Miko, Ganyu or Keqing.
