Garena Free Fire Adds New Character Link System To Let Players Unlock Characters For Good

Garena Free Fire will soon be shaking up how players can earn in-game characters, introducing the brand-new Character Link system beginning with the March 23 update.

The new mechanic will allow players to earn new characters completely through gameplay, as playing every day will accumulate “link progress.” Once progress is complete for that character, the player unlocks them permanently and can then choose another character to unlock. Once a character is unlocked, players can show off their newest addition via the new accomplishment sharing system.

The new Character Link system will let players unlock these and any of Garena Free Fire’s other characters.

The Garena Free Fire Character Link system is only available to characters that are 90 days removed from when they were initially added to the game, though in some special cases like collaborations the character might take more than 90 days to be added. All characters will show a countdown on their icon, letting the player know how long they have to wait for the character to be added to the system.

The March 23 update adding the Character Link mechanic to the game will also allow players to use in-game gold to buy character fragments and pet food, meaning not only can characters be earned through normal gameplay, they can be leveled up through normal gameplay as well.

The new Character Link system comes as Garena Free Fire’s major collaboration with Assassin’s Creed comes to a close, and with a new collaboration with Korean pop band BTS on the horizon. The game is available to download now on both iOS and Android devices.
