Alan Wake returns later this year, with Remedy currently developing the long-awaited sequel.
The upcoming survival horror game was recently teased, when the developers premiered gameplay footage of the title at the 2023 edition of Summer Game Fest.
The protagonist in Alan Wake is one of the more popular characters from the horror genre, and he will be paired alongside a new character in Saga Anderson.
While Remedy handles the development, Epic Games is the publisher of Alan Wake II. The latter is known for adding iconic video game characters to its hit Battle Royale game, Fortnite. So, should we expect the same to happen with Wake?
The burning question was recently asked to Remedy creative director Sam Lake in an interview with Gamespot, and his response wasn’t quite straightforward. “I think that would be an interesting thought and a conversation [would need] to be had with them,” he said. “Let’s see if they would be interested in something like that. Then we could seriously talk about it and think about it.”
While Fortnite has seen the arrival of several characters from the world of video games, not much has been seen from the horror or survival genre. During the chat, Lake responded to whether developers like Naughty Dog refuse to let these characters join the popular Battle Royale because it may affect people’s perception about the game’s tone. “I would maybe like to see Ellie and Joel dancing with a banana,” he noted.
Will we ever see Alan Wake become part of Fortnite? Who knows. However, if such a collaboration is in the works then, Sam Lake has surely done well to keep his mouth shut.
