First Details On Ex-Left 4 Dead Dev’s New Game Surface In An Unofficial Way

Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock has begun recruiting for its next game project, which the studio describes as a mix of FPS and multiplayer, similar to its previous game Back 4 Blood. The studio, which includes several Left 4 Dead veterans, is now looking for a senior combat designer to join the team, according to a job posting on Glassdoor (via GamesRadar).

According to the listing, Turtle Rock seeks a developer with a love for “specifically FPS, co-op, and multiplayer games,” and experience with “developing first-person shooting and melee” gameplay. Additionally, the candidate will also be experienced in developing combat, weapons, class design, skills, and boss encounters.

Now Playing: Back 4 Blood Video Review

The studio first announced that it was working on a new project back in February, and also announced that it was ending development on Back 4 Blood to focus on its next game. As a “pretty small studio” for the types of games that it makes, Turtle Rock said that it didn’t have enough employees to both support Back 4 Blood and work on a new game, even after it was acquired by Tencent in December 2021. “Yes, another game! Given this, it’s time for us to put our heads down, get back in the lab, and get to work on the next big thing,” Turtle Rock said in its announcement.

Back 4 Blood is still available through Xbox Game Pass–where it had a day-one launch–and is still functional, as the servers haven’t been taken offline. Since its launch in 2021, Turtle Rock supported the game with three expansions, including Tunnels of Terror, Children of the Worm, and River of Blood.

For its next project, the studio remains tight-lipped for now. “While we may be a bit quieter in the short-term, we promise that we’ll be back, bigger, bolder, and better than ever,” the studio said at the time.
