Dota 2 New Frontiers Update Brings Massive Changes Including a Bigger Map

Dota 2 has just received one of its biggest updates ever, since the 7.0 patch. The new 7.33 update brings a ton of new content to one of the most popular MOBA games out there. Dota 2 now has a much bigger map and also a new hero attribute type called Universal heroes.

Here are all the big changes coming with the New Frontiers update.

Bigger map

Dota 2’s map has just increased by 40% in size with new structures at the lanes, a new objective called the Lotus Pools, new runes, and more. There’s also an update on the neutral creeps, who will now have their abilities scaling over time, which means dealing with the jungle-dwellers would be a tad more difficult for players.

Universal heroes: a new hero attribute type

Before this update, Dota 2 had three main stats for heroes through the attribute types which are Strength, Agility, and Intelligence. These three stats determine a hero’s HP, attack speed and magical capacity. Each hero also has a primary attribute among these three, which gives them extra damage for more points when they are using the set attribute.

The new update has added Universal heroes as the fourth attribute type. This type of hero has the ability to make use of all attributes. This essentially means that a Universal hero gains 0.6 damage from each stat, of any attribute.

Character changes and new items

Characters such as Muerta, Clinkz, Medusa, Ogre Magi, Alchemist, and Arc Warden have all received changes and additions.

New items have also made their way to Dota 2 like the Harpoon, a throwable Blood Grenade, and many more. Among them is the Diadem, a new item which gives a +6 boost to all attributes.

Valve, the developer of Dota 2, has also made changes to the matchmaking with a new system called Glicko. You can read about it and check out the massive list of balance changes in the official Dota 2 New Frontiers patch notes.
