“But our hopes are that, like we did on those [beta testing] weekends, we learn and adapt,” he said.

Diablo fans will no doubt recall Diablo III’s troubled launch in 2012 and the infamous “Error 37” that ruined the experience at release for many. Despite that, the game sold 3.5 million copies in 24 hours and set records. Regarding the server issues, Blizzard eventually turned things around and Diablo III became a success story.

Fans will surely be hoping that Diablo IV gets off to a smooth start upon release this week.

GameSpot’s Diablo IV review scored the game an 8/10. Reviewer Alessandro Barbosa said the game’s “surprisingly moving and engrossing story encapsulates gameplay systems that have learnt all the right lessons from entries past.”

As is becoming the norm with big games these days, people who pay extra can play Diablo IV early, beginning June 1. The standard edition, meanwhile, arrives June 5. For more, check out GameSpot’s Diablo IV guide for unlock times.
