Leveling new characters in Diablo IV can be a bit of a grind. Thankfully, there is a remarkably efficient way to power level as long as you’ve completed the campaign on at least one character, which will let you jump straight into the game’s higher World Tiers and endgame content without having to play for dozens of hours first.
There are only two real requirements for this method to work. The first is that you must have completed the campaign once before. This will allow you to choose the “Skip Campaign” option when making a new character. You’ll also need a high-level friend who’s willing to help you out for an hour or so. Once you have those two boxes ticked, the rest is fairly straightforward. Here’s how to do it.
How To Power Level In Diablo 4
How To Unlock World Tier 3
Create a new character of your choice, choose “Skip Campaign,” and start your adventure on World Tier 2. Next, invite your high-level friend to your party and enter the Cathedral of Light capstone dungeon in Kyovashad. Because there is an unlimited range for how XP is shared while in a group, all you have to do is sit at the entrance at the dungeon while your friend rushes through and completes it. You’ll soak up all the XP and be well on your way to level 50. Leave the dungeon and turn in the quest by inspecting the World Tier statue in Kyovashad. Change the difficulty to World Tier 3.
How To Unlock World Tier 4
The process is pretty much the same to unlock the game’s current max difficulty of World Tier 4. Travel to the Fallen Temple capstone dungeon in the Dry Steppes. You can do this more easily by having your higher-level friend travel there first and then simply teleporting to them by taking the portal while in a main city. Once again, sit at the entrance of the dungeon while your friend clears it. After the dungeon is complete, travel back to Kyovashad to change the difficulty to World Tier 4.
Grind Dungeons Until Level 50
Now that World Tier 4 is unlocked, you’ll be getting far more XP from monsters. You can choose any dungeon you wish at this point and have your high-level friend run through it until you are your desired level or your friend is tired of carrying you. One dungeon in particular that is a fast and efficient clear is the Champion’s Demise dungeon in Dry Steppes, but you can also go for dungeons that will reward Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers. Completing the favors will probably be slower overall, but you’ll come out the other side with more resources and (fingers crossed) some better gear.
It’s worth noting that throughout this entire process you don’t need to follow your friend through the dungeons to claim powerful items. Legendary and unique items that drop during your dungeon farming are automatically sent to your stash after each run, so you don’t have to manually run through the dungeon once it’s clear and pick them all up.
There is one more trick to farming dungeons efficiently. Normally, it takes a few minutes for a completed dungeon to reset. There is, however, a way to speed this up. Leaving the dungeon and then simply logging out and back in will quickly reset the dungeon. If you’re in a group, have all members leave the group, including the party leader. Then, have the party leader enter the dungeon solo. From there, the party leader can re-invite everyone to the dungeon, which will then reset. That’s all there is to it. Happy power-leveling!
