Destiny 2 Art Director Is Shifting to a New Bungie Project; Could Have Something to Do With Sony’s Plans for the Game

Bungie has been on a roll for the past few weeks, and it seems like the developers have no plans to stop it anytime soon.

Following a massive acquisition by Sony and PlayStation, the Bellevue-based developers released one of their best pieces of content for Destiny 2 in the Witch Queen expansion.

However, after PlayStation acquired Bungie for around $3.6 billion, it seems like the company has plans to expand their IPs such as Destiny, outside the video game world by producing movies and TV shows based on their creations.

So far, fans haven’t heard any concrete news from the developers about a potential new project being worked at Bungie.

However recently, rumors began swirling about the company working on a new project following a LinkedIn post from Destiny 2 Art Director, Jason Sussman.

In his post, Sussman revealed that he was moving on from working in the world of Destiny for a new project that Bungie is currently developing.

The post didn’t reveal any further details about the mysterious project, hence why, fans have already began speculating about its nature.

Many believe that Bungie might finally be looking to pivot away from their most famous IP in Destiny, with the franchise’s sequel set to receive two more sequels called Lightfall and The Final Shape in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

After working on the humongous lore and content of Destiny for the past 12 years, it seems like the developers might be moving to new pastures. However, at the same time, Sussman might also be assisting a new project at Bungie which might involve the adaptations of the franchise’s lore for a live action TV show or movie.

As of right now, the new project will be shrouded in mystery. However, details about it might soon leak out, and it will be interesting to see what Bungie might be brewing in their offices.
