Deleted Armored Core 6 Video Showcases PVP And Arena Content

Highlights

  • A leaked video of Armored Core 6 reveals exciting Arena gameplay, with bombastic combat and fluid lock-on mechanics.
  • The target assist feature in hard lock mode limits movement but provides a focused camera angle on the enemy, making attacks more predictable.
  • Armored Core 6 improves on previous games by finding a balance between camera and speed, and PvP areas will not offer repair kits, making fights more challenging.

A new leaked video of Armored Core 6 has surfaced online, showing new gameplay content related to the Arena or PvP component of the game. The video was originally uploaded by a Japanese Youtuber, but was quickly taken down as it was not intended to be made public.

Armored Core 6 received a new wave of content and information earlier this week thanks to Bandai Namco, who gave many reviewers and content creators a chance to preview the game and familiarize themselves with its mechanics. But how the arena works has yet to be mentioned by any reviewer (at least until the aforementioned video was leaked).

As seen in the video, Arena combat will be as bombastic and engaging as the single-player experience. And apparently, locking on to your opponent won’t be a chore. You can effortlessly maintain an appropriate distance from your opponent while keeping them within range of your weapons and lasers without too much difficulty.

Reddit user AmbitiousPen9497 delves deeper into what actually happens on the screen. In short, there are two types of lock-ons (soft lock and hard lock). In soft lock, you move the camera manually, but in hard lock–which is activated with target assist–the rectangular lock-on circle and camera angle can change to focus solely on the enemy.

While this sounds good on paper, DivineCyb333 infers from the video that this target assist limits your movement to pivoting around the enemy and makes your attacks predictable, so it’s not really broken as the title of the reddit post implies, and players may need to toggle it on and off from time to time to gain more freedom of movement.

The lock-on mechanic in Armored Core 6 is a refreshing change from Armored Core 4. Although Armored Core 4 boasted the highest movement speeds in the series, even surpassing those of Armored Core 6, fans like MidEastBeast777 have pointed out that the camera back then had trouble keeping up with the speed. In contrast, Armored Core 6 strikes a perfect balance between camera and speed, as the leaked video shows.

The video also confirms that PvP areas will not contain any repair kits to recharge health and heal damage, as in the case of single-player missions. It will be a fight to the death with only the loadout you choose at the beginning of the match at your disposal.
