CS:GO Player Has Built a Discord Bot to Record Match Highlights

A CS:GO player by the name of Run1e has created a bot to record highlights from official matchmaking. This Discord bot will automatically generate highlight clips from matchmaking games by using simple steps on the Discord app.

“This has been a long-standing passion project of mine, and it’s finally at a stage where I want to share it,” Run1e said on Reddit.

The bot only requires a match’s share code which can easily be found in the CS:GO menu. It’s a great tool developed by Run1e who has been receiving applause and support from the community for creating it.

There’s some more gratitude going around as Run1e decided to make their bot open-source, and available to all.

“This is amazing, huge props to open source it,” one Redditor wrote. “I was thinking about how to implement something like this two days ago, appreciate you open-sourcing your work,” wrote another Redditor.

Valve currently has no integrated tool that allows players to record their match highlights. Players who wish to clip their highlights usually have to use third-party software like OBS (Open Broadcaster Software).

How to use the Discord bot

Players who wish to try out Run1e’s bot can join their Discord server. Simply share the match code with the bot and follow the instructions from the video. Keep in mind that the bot can only clip official matchmaking games.

Some users also wondered if this Discord bot can record complete games in the future but that looks highly unlikely since Discord doesn’t allow bots to upload files bigger than 25MB.

Those who wish to add Run1e’s Discord bot to their own server can find the link on Run1e’s Discord server for it.
