continue: Google is testing ‘Continue watching’ feature for YouTube web – Times of India

Google recently started testing several new features for YouTube. The company recently added picture-in-picture mode for iOS devices and is also testing Google Assistant integration for topic suggestions. 9to5Google is now reporting about another new feature that Google has recently started testing for the web version of YouTube.
According to the report, Google has started rolling out a new feature called ‘Continue Watching’ feature for the web. The feature is designed to offer seamless transition from phone to web version of YouTube.
It is different from what we have seen where the app asks users to ‘Continue watching’ in case back to back videos are playing from a playlist.
The feature is currently being rolled out to a limited number of users. With this new feature, if someone leaves a video halfway on their smartphone, a new notification will appear in the mini player at the bottom of the web version of YouTube.
The mini player will show unfinished video with a text Continue watching. Users will then have the option of either playing it in the mini player itself or click on the expand icon to watch it in full screen standard player.
Also, for the feature to work, you will need to login with the same Google Account on both the devices.
While the feature is still in the testing phase, it seems like a very good feature and will add to the convenience of watching videos on YouTube.
