CBSE Class 12 results to be based on marks of classes 10, 11 and 12 pre-boards – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Thursday informed Supreme Court that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will adopt 30:30:40 formula for evaluation of marks of class 12 students based on results of class 10, 11 and 12.

The Centre said that CBSE Class 12 results will be prepared on the basis of student’s performance in the finals of classes 10 and 11 exams and class 12 pre-board tests.

“For evaluating a student, his marks in best of three papers for class 10 would be given 30% weightage, for class 11 weightage of 30% and for class 12 the weightage is 40%,” said Attorney general (AG) K K Venugopal.

The CBSE class 12 results will be declared by July 31.

The CBSE Board also said that students who are unsatisfied with evaluation formula can appear for the class 12 board exams later. The CBSE 12th Exams will be conducted by the Board as and when the conditions become conducive.

The Board had formed a 12-member committee of experts to prepare the formula for giving results and marks for class 12 students.

The CBSE had issued a notification in this regard on June 4. While issuing the notification, CBSE’s controller of examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said that there are 12 members in this committee. The committee consists of 12 persons, including Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education and senior IAS officer Vipin Kumar. This committee will decide the basis for promoting the students and preparing their mark sheets.

The government had cancelled the 12th board examinations on June 1 due to the surge in Covid cases.
