As the Union education minister called a meeting with the state education secretaries to discuss the impact of the pandemic on education, parents and students were hopeful that the government will announce the future of the students of Class 12. The government, however, did not make any announcement on whether or not the exams will be conducted or cancelled.
The growing uncertainty has left the parents disgruntled, forcing them to take to social media and unanimously raise their demands to cancel the board exams.
“For the past one month, parents and students have been reeling under anxiety about the government’s decision on the board exams. We are still seeing over 3 lakh cases and thousands of deaths daily. There’s a strong possibility of another third wave that is likely to affect children the most. Under such circumstances, conducting exams will not be a wise decision,” said Pradeep Rawat, founder of Gurgaon Parents Association.
“Last one month has been extremely devastating and has emotionally and mentally exhausted everyone. Children are no exception. Instead of delaying the decision, the government must take immediate steps to bring succor to these students,” said Tripti Singh, a parent and administrator of a Facebook forum called Gurgaon Parents for Better Education.
