Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder Digs Deep on PSVR This Year

Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder Digs Deep on PSVR This Year

Finnish VR specialist VRKiwi has announced today that Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder, the follow-up to 2019’s Cave Digger, will be moving dirt on PSVR later this year. At the moment, there’s no firm release date as the developer is polishing the final gemstones ahead of release, though it is expected to release sometime between August and September, as per the press release.

The game’s developer states that Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder will be a familiar experience to those who already got their hands dirty with the original game, but it’ll also be different enough to make it a worthwhile investment. The scope of the game has increased, as has the production budget and value, and the developer notes the advances in VR technology over the last couple of years has had an influence on the well-received sequel.

Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder will offer a new story with branching narratives to discover, either alone as a solo adventurer or as a group of up to four players. There will also be crossplay matchmaking, too, with PSVR, Steam, and Meta Quest players being able to buddy up in their digging ventures. However, VRKiwi is keen to stress that while multiplayer is supported, the game was developed first and foremost as a single player experience. So if you prefer to play your games alone, you’ll be able to go from start to finish without any hinderance.

Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder is already available on Steam and Meta Quest, with the latter being released into Meta’s pre-release AppLab program where it is being steadily updated with new features.

The original Cave Digger released back in 2019 before spawning a non-VR release a year later. So if you like the idea of the game but can’t stand having VR goggles strapped to your face, a non-VR version could potentially be coming at a later date, though no announcement has been made at this time.
