Borderlands EchoVision Live Is a New Interactive Streaming Series Announced at SDCC 2023

Fresh from the news the long-awaited Borderlands movie is coming out summer 2024, San Diego Comic-Con 2023 brings us more Borderlands news, this time of a new interactive streaming series set in Gearbox’s Borderlands universe.

Borderlands EchoVision Live borrows from the likes of Telltale Games’ back catalogue and interactive shows such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. The idea is viewers come together to play in a similar fashion to Twitch Plays Pokémon, with community-driven decisions driving the story.

Borderlands EchoVision Live follows eight unsuspecting tourists (all-new characters for the Borderlands series) who find themselves in peril, marooned on Eden-6, after setting off on an “Adventure Safari” to follow in the footsteps of Vault Hunters. The audience decides whether these characters “make it from zeroes-to-heroes”.

Borderlands EchoVision Live is the work of Genvid, the company behind this year’s Silent Hill: Ascension. Genvid also announced a similar interactive streaming series called DC Heroes United, licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC. This features an all-new Justice League of Earth-212, with the audience determining what kind of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains characters – including Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman – will become.

No release windows for Borderlands EchoVision Live and DC Heroes United were revealed. If you need a catch-up, here’s everything announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2023.
