Bollywood producer Vijay Galani passes away

Chandigarh, December 30

Bollywood producer Vijay Galani died on Wednesday in London due to organ failure. Vijay, who backed films including ‘Ajnabee’, ‘Achanak’, ‘Veer’ and 1992 ‘Suryavanshi’, was taking treatment for blood cancer in London.

Producer Ramesh Taurani broke the news on his Instagram handle. He wrote, “Very unfortunate and saddening to know our dear friend Vijay Gallani passed away…May his soul rest in peace… deepest condolences to his family and friends…Om Shanti #ripvijaygallani.”

It has been reported that Vijay had travelled to the UK with his family a few days ago for cancer treatment. It was on Wednesday night that he breathed his last.

Even the Indian Film TV Producers Council took to Twitter to express its grief on Vijay’s death. It wrote, “Deeply Heartbreaking and Saddening news of our beloved IFTPC director and Indian Film Producer Vijay Galani passing away…You always inspired and motivated us…Will dearly miss you…RIP. Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends.”

In an interaction with Indian Express, President of The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), TP Aggarwal said, “Galani was suffering from blood cancer and was taking treatment in London, He had a surgery a few weeks ago and it was successful. Suddenly he had an organ failure and died on Wednesday. His family is in London as they were with him during his treatment.”

Vijay’s last production was Mahesh Manjrekar directorial The Power, starring Vidyut Kammwal and Shruti Haasan, that released earlier this year.

Industry mourned his death and shared grief on social media.
