Focus Entertainment and Don’t Nod have unveiled a new action-RPG called Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Revealed at The Game Awards 2022, the game stars a pair of ghost hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters.
The game takes place in 1695 in the haunted wilds of North America, starring Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, a romantically involved pair of ghost hunters.
Like most Don’t Nod games, Banishers will feature challenging decisions for the player to make that will impact the story and fate of New Eden’s inhabitants. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at the end of 2023.
Don’t Nod is best-known for creating the first two Life Is Strange games, which are known for their supernatural influences and choice-based gameplay. The studio also developed Vampyr, which Focus Entertainment published.
Don’t Nod’s last game developed was Twin Mirror, which launched in 2020. We called the game mediocre, saying “Twin Mirror is a frustratingly uneven adventure; it feels slow-paced yet ends too quickly, it features a wide cast of characters but doesn’t give them enough depth, and it presents you with crimes to investigate without letting you play much of a role in solving them.”
