BAFTA Game Awards 2023: Indie Title Beats Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok to Win Best Game Category; Here Are All the Winners

Several games, developers and publishers were felicitated at the BAFTA Games Awards, which took place last night.

Among the nominations in various categories, fans saw several familiar faces and titles such as God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, and more. The former two have been battling it out at various award shows for the ultimate honour of Game of the Year. However, at last night’s BAFTA Game Awards, both games were stunned by an unlikely winner.

Vampire Survivor wins Best Game at BAFTA Games Awards

When the award for Best Game came up last night during the BAFTA Game Awards, everyone expected to hear the names of God of War Ragnarok or Elden Ring to be uttered by the presenter. However, in a surprise twist, the award went to Vampire Survivors.

Developed mostly by Luca Galante, Vampire Survivors is a roguelike shoot ’em up title, where players have to survive several hordes of monsters, as long as they can. Along with Best Game, the title also won an award for Game Design at the event.

God of War Ragnarok goes home big with six wins the at BAFTA Games Awards

Despite losing out on Best Game, God of War Ragnarok won the hearts of fans, as it was named the winner in the EE Game of the Year category, which is voted by the public.

Along with that, the Santa Monica Studio-developed title won the most at the event, with 6 wins from 14 nominations. Here’s a list of all the winners from last night’s BAFTA Games Awards:

  • Best Game Design: Vampire Survivors
  • Best Multiplayer Game: Elden Ring
  • Best Music: God of War Ragnarok
  • Best Narrative: Immortality
  • Best Original Property: Elden Ring
  • Best Performer in a Leading Role: Christopher Judge as Kratos in God of War Ragnarok
  • Best Performer in a Supporting Role: Laya Deleon Hayes as Angrboða in God of War Ragnarok
  • Technical Achievement: Horizon Forbidden West
  • EE Game of the Year: God of War Ragnarok
