Apple may launch AirPods Pro 2 in 2022, AirPods 3 in 2021 – Times of India

Rumours about Apple AirPods are always doing the rounds. It’s been more than two years since Apple’s — and the world’s most popular — true wireless earbuds have seen a refresh. A report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple will launch two variants of the AirPods — one in 2021 and the other in 2022.
The one that are expected to launch in 2021 will be the base variant of the AirPods — rumoured to be called AirPods 3. Apple is set to change the design of AirPods, as per the report. The AirPods 3 would look more like the current AirPods Pro with an all-new case and shorter stems.
AirPods Pro too are expected to get a refresh in terms of features. According to the report by Bloomberg, AirPods Pro 2 will have updated motion sensors and boast of fitness tracking features as well.
The report further states that Apple has been testing a stemless design for the AirPods Pro — something that is first expected to be seen in Beats’ wireless earbuds that may launch next month.
Very little is known about other features of both the models of the Apple AirPods. It’s not known whether Apple could opt for new colours or stick with the white only colour policy for the new models of AirPods.
Speaking of colours, the third product in the AirPods line up is the AirPods Max — over the ear headphones. The report by Bloomberg states that Apple has no plans of working on the second-generation of AirPods Max as of now. However, Apple could launch new colour variants of the AirPods Max in the future.
Apple AirPods have been dominating the market in the last few years and even though the growth might have slowed down, they remain the most popular true wireless earbuds in the world.
