Apple iPad: Here’s when Apple may launch the next iPad – Times of India

Apple has been refreshing its iPad lineup quite frequently in the last few years. In the last two years, we have seen two ‘regular’ 10.2-inch iPads, two AirPad Pro models and an all-new iPad Air. Now, it looks like the only remaining iPad — mini — is set to get a refresh. According to Bloomberg, Apple is on track to launch the next iPad mini this fall — something around September/October.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has mentioned this in his weekly newsletter. Gurman suggests that this will be “the biggest redesign in the nine-year history” of the iPad mini. Apart from the redesign, the iPad mini is expected to come powered by a new processor as well.
It was in 2019 when Apple had last launched an iPad mini. The iPad mini had then got support for Apple Pencil.
The upcoming iPad mini could see a design similar to the iPad Air, which Apple launched in 2020. For the last two years, Apple has launched an entry-level iPad in September and if Gurman’s claims are to be believed then this year could see the launch of the all-new iPad mini.
Tipster Jon Prosser had last month hinted at some of the changes that could come with the iPad mini. According to Prosser, Touch ID would be removed from the home button (which also bids adieu) and put with the top button. The device might be given a USB Type-C port to make file transfer easier. Prosser also hints that the iPad mini 2021 could come with support for Apple Pencil 2 or might even have its own small Pencil, as per the size of the tablet. The colours that the device may launch in are Black, Gold and Silver. The upcoming iPad mini is expected to come with an 8.4-inch display and could be powered by the M1 chip.
