Aparshakti Khurana on what acting and singing mean to him and how the love he receives for both humbles himThe actor talks about how acting and singing play in his life and how the love he receives for both humbles him
“Music is something that makes me happy,” admits Aparshakti Khurana, who despite a hectic work schedule continues to spend time recording new music. He adds, “No matter, how occupied I am with the projects that I am a part of, I ensure that I manage some time to be in touch with music.”
Known for his performancs in movies such as Stree (2018), Luka Chuppi (2019) and Hum Do Humare Do (2021), Khurana, like his elder brother, actor, Ayushmann Khurrana, is also quite the vocalist himself. He debuted as a singer-composer with 2019’s hit Punjabi single, Kudiye Ni, directed by Tahira Kashyap and then went on to release Chaupai Sahib and Teri Yaari.
Ask him that what stopped him earlier from exploring music alongwith acting and he replies, “Songs I think are like people. Some of them just feel right. While I have always loved singing, I knew Kudiye Ni was the song I was ready to share with the world. To see Kudiye Ni receive the love that it receives to-date humbled me. But it always made me a little more sure of my craft. It helped me push the envelope because of which I am not as scared to show this side of me to the world.”
Khurana says, “Music has been my passion since day one. I used to compose and sing songs in college and went on to continue this passion on a professional front the first chance I got after things worked out for me in the film industry as an actor. Making music is the best form of relaxation for me – I jam with my musician friends from film and radio fraternity whenever I get the time and opportunity to do so. I feel fortunate to be in a space where I do have a certain degree of liberty of giving my music a chance to be heard as well, along with my acting talent.”
On the work front, Aparshakti will next be seen in Atul Sabharwal’s crime thriller, Berlin, where he would be seen playing a deaf and mute interpreter.
