A photography exhibition Linking Levels—Ramps and Staircases celebrates the legacy of architect MN Sharma

On a similar note, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi celebrates the art and the artist MN Sharma, who was a part of the team which designed Chandigarh. The architect left a rich legacy behind him and will be always remembered for his life-time contribution to the City Beautiful.

The MN Sharma Architectural Society and Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi organised an exhibition on the theme, Linking Levels—Ramps and Staircases, which had entries from the youth of Tricity. Guneet Ganger, final year student of Chandigarh College of Architecture, has won the MN Sharma Photography award worth Rs 25,000. Elated to hear the news, Guneet shared details about his picture which is of the ramp of PGIMER Mess. He says, “The hospital doesn’t have a lull day, every day is a busy day. So, it was tough to get a picture with just one subject and the ramp, but I was patient with my camera.” Apart from Guneet, there were four other photographs which were short-listed. As many as 130 photographs were received by CLKA, among which Ashna Sethi’s play of repetition in Sector 33 housing society and Jeevan Jyot’s symmetrical ramp which has multiple element from brick walls stand out.
