The DC fandom received major news quite recently, when it was announced that David Corenswet will be playing the Man of Steel, alongside Rachel Brosnahan portraying Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy.
The James Gunn-directed film will kick off the director’s new DC Universe, which he’s co-developing with Peter Safran. Superman: Legacy aims to introduce fans to a new DC Universe, with superhero groups such as The Authority being part of it.
Alongside Superman: Legacy, the first chapter of the DC Universe titled “Gods and Monsters” will feature TV shows and films revolving around other DC characters. This includes the Batman, who makes his debut with The Brave and the Bold.
The film revolves around Grant Morrison’s iconic comic book run, and it features Bruce and his son Damian Wayne aka Robin.
So far, not much development has taken place for the film, except for Andy Muschietti’s addition as the director. With Superman and Lois Lane casted, fans are hoping to hear a similar announcement for Batman. However, James Gunn recently commented on Instagram, that it is ‘miles and miles away.’
It’s understandable to see why that’s the case, as the film has yet to have a script, unlike Superman: Legacy, which is written and directed by Gunn. However, as the months go by, fans will hear more about it and it will be interesting to see which direction Gunn goes with the Dark Knight in the DC Universe.
